Meet My Newest Obsession…

Hey, y’all!

Sorry for being a little absent lately. We’ve had visitors, the holidays are always busy, you know how it goes. On top of all that, though, we’ve added a new member to our little family…

Meet our new fur baby, Shorty! She’s a 10 month-old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix), and we’re totally in love with her. We found her on Craigslist of all places and picked her up the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Over the past few weeks we’ve been getting her settled into our home and her routine. She’s a total cuddle bug and fits perfectly into our lives. We’re quickly forgetting what life was like before she came along. ❤

We’re still working on things like not barking at the next door neighbor (we live in a condo), and she certainly has that Dachshund stubbornness, but she’s really smart (sometimes too smart haha). She’s lucky she’s so darn cute! 🙂 We’re getting her spayed on Friday, which won’t be fun for any of us, but it needs to be done. At least we’ll have the whole next week to stay home with her and give her extra love.

Bonus: she was already completely house trained when we got her, and even after staying home alone for whole 10-hour workdays, she hasn’t had a single accident.

Bonus bonus: she loves wearing outfits! 😀

Things we’ve learned so far:

  1. If you are a doting pet parent and search online for the annual cost of a dog, multiply it by AT LEAST 2. Maybe that will change as we get all of the initial costs out of the way, but for now, I call BS on those numbers.
  2. Having a dog that sheds makes you do laundry a LOT more often.
  3. Dogs are like kids in a lot of ways. The first one we noticed was that we won’t be getting to sleep late for the foreseeable future.
  4. The second way we noticed dogs are like kids: they will try to eat anything that they can get into their mouths. Thankfully she seems to do well with leaving things like shoes and electrical cords alone.

I’ll try to do a better job of keeping up with the beauty stuff that I love, but this puppy is such an adorable distraction. ❤ Any puppy parenting tips? Tell me about your fur babies in the comments!

Love,

Sarah xoxo
